- CBD is not to be confused with the harmful substance THC, which is also a component of the hemp plant. THC is known for its known psychoactive effect, which is responsible for the known “high” effect.
- Since CBD oil has no psychoactive effect, the purchase is completely legal. In addition, many studies from the USA and other countries confirm the positive health effects of CBD.

Advisor: Questions to consider before buying a CBD oil
What is CBD?
CBD is one of many substances contained in the hemp plant. Strictly speaking, it is the plant substance CBDa. Only by evaporation or smoking the so-called decarboxylation takes place. This is a process in which the CBDa is converted into CBD.
The same applies to the harmful substance THC, which is also contained in many varieties of hemp. However, it should be noted that, as already mentioned, there are several varieties of hemp. The conventional hemp is the industrial hemp. It is produced in large quantities and contains only small amounts of THC.
The industrial hemp grown in Germany is characterised, among other things, by a maximum THC content of 0,2 %. Some other hemp varieties had a significantly higher content.
Therefore it can be said that the generic term hemp does not mean marijuana at the same time.
Industrial hemp also has another valuable property; it has large quantities of CBD, so that it can be used optimally for the production of CBD oil.
Is cannabis oil legal?
As already mentioned, industrial hemp, which is also used for the production of cannabis oil, is legally cultivated in Germany. However, the THC content must not exceed 0.2%.
Unlike THC, CBD has no psychoactive properties. In addition, no side effects are known to date, which is why the purchase of CBD oil is not subject to prescription.
It is also important that not all countries have the same regulations. In Thailand, for example, only products with a THC content of 0% are permitted. In other words, although 0.2% CBD oil is legal in Germany, it can have legal consequences when entering countries such as Thailand.
Therefore, in such cases you should always make sure that the product in question is marked “does not contain THC”.
In addition, the substance is considered a food supplement in Germany. In some other countries, however, it is considered a drug and is therefore subject to prescription.
What are the components of CBD oil?
In addition to the CBD, CBD oil is accompanied by a number of other substances which are intended to have a health-promoting effect. The interaction between the endocannabinoid system of our organism and the cannabinoids, which are components of the CBD, is particularly worth mentioning.
Some commonly used trace elements and minerals are listed below:
The following substances are frequently used among cannabinoids:
What is the purpose of the additives in CBD oils?
The additives serve as dietary supplements because they are considered vital components of our diet. In addition to the classic classification of carbohydrates, fats and proteins, there are also trace elements, dietary fibres, vitamins and minerals.
Calcium, for example, serves to form and strengthen our bones and teeth, without which we would not be able to survive in the long term. Iron, on the other hand, belongs to the minerals and is important for blood formation and oxygen transport.
Potassium is responsible for the water balance. Magnesium has a great influence on muscles and nerves and also supports numerous organ functions. Phosphorus plays an essential role in cell formation.
What is the significance of cannabinoids?
CBD oil contains almost 500 active substances, of which about 80 can also be detected in the cannabis plant. These cannabinoids are characterised by their positive effect on the brain and the nervous system.
CBG, for example, has an anti-bacterial effect, while CBDA has been shown to have a positive effect on some cancers. The substance can also help against nausea.
CBN, on the other hand, has a psychoactive effect which, however, has a reverse function due to a very small amount; it inhibits anxiety, soothes and lowers intraocular pressure.
CBD itself has an analgesic effect, which is why the plant substance is often recommended in medical circles for headaches, bone pain and cramps.
What is the effect of CBD oil?
Mainly CBD is used because of its analgesic effect against any kind of pain. These can be headaches, for example, but also migraines or chronic pain.
However, CBD is not considered a cure for pain. These are caused by a particular cause, such as disease or circulatory problems. CBD can only relieve pain for a short period of time. The cause itself remains untouched.
For this reason, in many cases CBD is only used in conjunction with therapy. In addition to being able to relieve pain, the substance also offers the possibility of reducing medication.
There is also a low probability that the symptoms will occur more frequently. Since each body reacts individually to the active substance, the effect can ultimately only be assessed.
Can CBD oil also be used as a preventive measure?
CBD has a positive effect on the immune and nervous systems. Pain can be relieved effectively. However, as already mentioned, the disease cannot be combated. Less pain, however, has a positive effect on both the body and the psyche, so that pain states are felt less intensively.
Another advantage of the active ingredient is a better sense of well-being. By taking CBD oil you feel more vital and sleep problems can be alleviated. In addition, thanks to the positive influence on the psyche, you feel less stressed, which brings a number of other advantages.
For example, you are much more resistant to a variety of common diseases. These are often caused by a high level of stress.
According to a number of studies, CBD can even prevent the proliferation of degenerated cells, so that the substance has recently been increasingly used in discussions about cancer control.
I’ll get a mention. CBD oil also has a positive effect on the heart, reducing the likelihood of heart attacks and strokes.
Did you know that CBD can help you on a diet?
CBD has an appetite-suppressing effect and stops the ravenous appetite for unhealthy snacks. If you combine your diet with sports activities, CBD helps to regenerate the body through its muscle-relaxing effect.
The plant substance also stimulates the multiplication of bone substance, which may prevent the development of osteoporosis.
Which dosage of CBD oil is optimal?
The correct dosage depends largely on the intended use. For general use, for example, a small dose is sufficient. The situation is different with diseases; depending on the disease and intensity, a correspondingly higher dosage is recommended.
For severe complaints/illnesses or chemotherapy: a ten percent oil is the best choice in the first week. Four drops are optimal in the morning and evening. In the second week there should be five drops in the morning and five drops in the evening. The process can be repeated in the following weeks.
For moderate pain: In the first week three drops are optimal in the morning and evening. From the third week onwards an increase to five drops should take place. It should also be taken three times a day. A five percent oil is a good choice.
For mild complaints: Also here a five per cent oil is a good choice. In the morning and in the evening three drops should be taken in each case. Starting from the second week it can be also five drops.
Sleep problems and small pains: Three times daily three drops of a two-percent CBD oil should be taken.
How quickly does cannabis oil take effect?
The effect of the substance varies from person to person. However, CBD oil has no known side effects, so you can take it over a longer period of time without any concerns.
As a rule, however, it takes four weeks for the first noticeable effect to become apparent. For some people, the effect only becomes apparent after six to eight weeks.
CBD capsules or tablets contain the same active ingredient, but differ in taste. In capsules, for example, the oil is inside the capsule shell. As a result, the substance is only absorbed in the stomach, so that the intake is tasteless.
Alternatively, the oil can also be consumed using an e-cigarette or an evaporator. The unpleasant taste is either not noticeable at all or is in the background. It is important that the temperature is set correctly. Each substance has its own optimal temperature at which the respective active ingredient achieves the best results.
How do I take CBD oil correctly?
CBD oil can also be taken in different ways. You should not eat or drink anything for at least a quarter of an hour after taking CBD Oil.
The most practical method is to take it by mouth. If necessary, the oil can also be taken in combination with a drink. However, many people find the taste of CBD oil unpleasant, so looking at alternatives is certainly not wrong.
For whom is CBD oil not suitable?
With certain medications such as omeprazole or diazepam, the oil can lead to undesirable side effects. It is therefore strongly recommended that you consult your doctor before taking this medicine.
It is also not recommended for pregnant women or nursing mothers.
Are there any known side effects of CBD Oil?
In principle, CBD oil is only slightly accompanied by side effects. Most occur in the early stages of taking CBD because the body first has to adapt to the substance. In addition, each body reacts more or less differently to the active substance, so only a general answer can be found.
Once the body has adjusted to the oil, the side effects usually disappear quickly. In addition, researchers have been able to prove through studies that even high doses of the substance cannot lead to any significant damage.
Decision: What types of CBD products are there and what is the right one for you?
Basically one can distinguish between four different types of CBD products:
- CBD Oil
- CBD drops
- CBD Liquid
- CBD Capsules
In the following we will explain the different species and their advantages and disadvantages. We want to help you to find the CBD product best suited to your needs.
What is CBD oil and what are its advantages and disadvantages?
CBD oil has a particularly high purity, which is reflected in a greater effect. Oils with a dosage of two, five, 7.5 and ten percent are common. A higher dosage also promises a greater effect. However, the dosage should correspond to the severity of the pain.
What are CBD drops and what are their advantages and disadvantages?
CBD drops are absorbed directly by the tongue and are ideal for travel. In addition, they are characterized by a rapid effect.
What is CBD Liquid and what are its advantages and disadvantages?
CBD Liquid is intended for smoking or steaming and is therefore suitable for e-cigarettes and vaporizers. The substance itself is vaporized. No other residues are consumed. Nevertheless, many products on the market contain the harmful substance nicotine.
What are CBD capsules and what are their advantages and disadvantages?
CBD capsules are tasteless because the oil is inside the capsule shell. The shell itself is made of gelatine. Once the capsule has arrived in the stomach and the capsule shell is dissolved, the active ingredients of the oil are supplied to the body via the bloodstream. Therefore, it takes some time before the effect can unfold.
Purchase criteria: Based on these factors you can compare and rate CBD oils
In the following we show you which criteria you can use to compare and evaluate CBD oils. This makes it easier for you to get an overview and to decide on a suitable and effective product.
In summary, these are the following criteria:
- dosage form
Below you can read what the respective criteria are all about and find out why it makes sense for you to purchase a product on the basis of the criteria or not.
The dosage indicates the actual CBD content. The higher it is, the stronger the effect. However, a high dosage is only recommended for intense pain. It also depends on the person. After all, every body reacts individually to the substance.
For minor pain or sleep problems, a preparation with a dose of 2% is sufficient. If you feel a little more pain, a dose of 5% is better. In the case of considerable discomfort, a ten percent oil is recommended.
CBD oil has the advantage that the market offers an enormous variety of products. In most cases it is an advantage that the dosage can be carried out individually. However, in some cases this can become a disadvantage; some diseases require a fixed dosage.
Did you know that you can also use CBD on your pets?
Most pets are vertebrates and also have an endocannabinoid system. Anxiety or depression occurs when the chemical balance in the brain is disturbed.
Dogs are particularly susceptible to this. CBD can therefore be used without hesitation on animals due to its non-psychoactive effect, but should still be discussed with the veterinarian.
In this case, tablets or capsules are recommended because they always have the same dose. Moreover, they are not accompanied by an unpleasant taste.
A higher purity is accompanied by a correspondingly higher effect. In addition, products with a relatively low purity are accompanied by harmful by-products.
Therefore, reputable suppliers always offer CBD oils with a high purity. In case of doubt, it may be worth asking the respective manufacturer.
Trivia: Facts worth knowing about CBD Oil
Historical background of CBD
CBD is, as already mentioned, an integral part of the hemp plant. It has been used for over 10,000 years for a wide variety of purposes. For example, it was already considered a medicinal plant at that time and was used as a reliable source for clothing and other textiles.
In the Middle Ages hemp oil was also used as a remedy against high blood pressure. Hemp fibre was used for sails and ropes.
However, Napoleon established a continental blockade in the 19th century, so that hemp was replaced by cotton.
Currently, hemp is legally cultivated in many countries. In Germany alone more than 50 different varieties of hemp are cultivated. However, care is always taken to ensure that the THC content exceeds 0.2 %.
How is CBD oil produced?
In most cases CBD oil is produced by extraction with carbon dioxide. The plant is heated slightly. At the same time, the oil is exposed to high pressure, causing the plant substance to dissolve.
Another possibility is alcohol extraction, which can provide high quantities of CBD at optimal conditions. In addition, the THC content remains very low.
How long does CBD oil last?
CBD oil has a long shelf life if stored correctly. The prerequisite is a low temperature and as little light as possible. If these are given, the oil can still be used after one year without any problems and is of unchanged quality.
