“Grantwriting for Underrepresented Minorities Seminar: Help, Opportunity, Experience” Program (GUMSHOE)

Dear colleagues,

Please find attached a detailed announcement of an opportunity to participate in a professional development-training program committed to increasing the number of scholars from diverse backgrounds who are successful in becoming independent investigators and securing NIH grants. “Grantwriting for Underrepresented Minorities Seminar: Help, Opportunity, Experience” Program (GUMSHOE) workshops will be hosted by the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus and Washington State University. The NRMN GUMSHOE is a 6-month program offered up to two times per year. Each cycle focuses on one of the following diverse populations: American Indians, Alaska Natives, Native Hawaiians and Other Pacific Islanders, Latinos/Hispanics, African Americans/Blacks, and other disadvantaged populations as time and resources permit. The first NRMN GUMSHOE grant writing seminar will be convened from October 21 to 23, 2015 at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora, Colorado and will focus on American Indians, Alaska Natives, Native Hawaiians, and Other Pacific Islanders. Subsequent workshops will focus on other target populations and will be held in other locations around the U.S. The attached announcement details the structure, process, and anticipated outcomes of participation in GUMSHOE. We will appreciate your assistance in forwarding the announcement, in turn, to the broadest possible audience in order to ensure that it comes to the attention of those who most likely will benefit from it. The announcement provides details regarding how to apply. Participants in past workshops of a similar nature, or other research career development programs are welcome to apply. Priority is given to applicants who have not received previous R01 funding from the National Institutes of Health. Questions may be directed to either me or Dedra S. Buchwald, M.D. ([email protected]). Thank you in advance for your support.

Sincerely,
