The NANAINA Logo

"The logo © design by Antoinette Park of the Port Gamble S'Klallam tribe in Washington State, adopted by NANAINA in 1998.

The Thunderbird represents restoration of balance and homeostasis; the upper half of the circle represents light, knowledge, and healing.

The lower part of the circle is darkness, sickness, and death. Bear claws signify strength and medicine for healing.

The circle is a halo or crown; one of knowledge, light, life, healing and health. The lamp on the bird's chest signifies our connection to the history of nursing.

The heart being the source of energy, life; it is where the spirit dwells. The flame in the lamp stands for hope, inspiration, learning, and illumination."
